Voice from the Dam

Today I find my self in the Dam on a scouting mission for distributing Smuggling Vacation here this summer.

How is the Dam? - It is wet. It is freezing cold and this is a city that is changing rapidly. The dutch people I spoke to last night were very pessimistic for the future as the reduction of coffee shops they forcast will accelerate with the intro of anti-smoking laws in July. Mikey will be gutted!

Back to our story which for some can't unfold quick enough. Our trio of smugglers have hit a crisis though Mikey seems to have the answer, but now a question is posed 'WHO IS TO DRIVE IT THROUGH'? - Find out this Sunday night.

Next blog - big news can at last be announced.

Till then - keep reading and letting people know about the strip as Smuggling Vacation will soon no longer be such a secret.

'till the next blog

We're on the way to printing...

How many weeks to go now? - I'm finnished in 3 weeks but with 'T' 'll be a little longer getting the artworks prepared so Smuggling Vacation will reach the printers early in April and be here on site shortly after.

In the meantime I'm continuing the drawing and also working out how to get the books out there into your hands. My crude strategy is to get it in the U.K head shops immediately which seems quite straight forward, and then into the comic shops, which will take a little longer as the distribution in these shops is quite tight and narrow so the independent comic shops will have it whilst your Forbidden Planets probably won't.

Back to our story then - we're now building to the 'grande finale'. This week they arrive at Eastenders in Calais - familiar to boozecruisers throughout the U.K (To non brits, the Eastenders warehouse in Calais, France is where we brits go to stock up on alcohol and avoid the heavy taxes charged on alcohol here in the U.K) and it is here the next stage of Mikey's amateur smuggling 'masterplan' comes into play.

So all's good here as our story rolls towards Dover, the U.K's busiest and most policed port.
I'm busier than ever learning about the printing, distributing ,promotion aswell as drawing and working on the plans for the front cover and blurbs. I'm just not cut out for this business world but I'm making progress and it's getting there.

Meanwhile our crime consultant is doing the groundwork on a second book and opening doors to distribute the book later in the Dam and south of Spain. He says 'Hi' to the couple he handed Smuggling Vacation literature to on the 11.40 Malaga to Coventry flight, the guy it turned out was a retired Chief Inspector with Staffordshire police. Otherwise his airmiles are helping the cause as we've some advance orders from the Dam and Belgium - which is a healthy start.

So that's it for this week. Next week I'll be painting a front cover and working on the blurb for our back cover. Some interesting ideas for that. Also, we're not far from a major announcement. Fingers crossed it'll be in the next blog.

'till then - keep reading.
