Some answers were provided by the Midland's Sunday tabloid; The Sunday Mercury, who exposed the "Crime Consultant" as an ex-armed robber, counterfeiter and smuggler; an "Ex-Public Enemy No.1", who was the author's father, despite the differing surname.
